Ficus Retusa bonsai pot cm. 25

Overview

The Ficus retusa is an indoor bonsai with small, glossy leaves, easily recognised by its greyish trunk, which here grows with a winding movement. The plant stands 40-45 cm tall and is set in a rectangular blue glazed ceramic pot measuring 25 x 16 cm. A size with real presence, ideal as a special gift, a corporate present or a wedding favour for weddings and ceremonies, and equally suited as a first bonsai for complete beginners.

How to care for it

Keep the plant indoors all year round in front of a bright window, with temperatures never below 12-14 °C and away from radiators and cold draughts. Water when the top centimetre of compost feels dry: in summer this may mean every one or two days, in winter even every 4-5 days.

For more on caring for this species, see the complete botanical care sheet.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Will I receive exactly the plant in the photograph?

A: No. The photo shows a representative specimen of the same variety and style. Every piece is the same species, Ficus retusa, in the same 25 x 16 cm pot and of very similar size, but the line of the trunk and the shape of the canopy vary slightly from plant to plant.

Q: Is the pot included in the price?

A: Yes. The bonsai arrives already planted in the rectangular blue glazed ceramic pot measuring 25 x 16 cm, with compost and surface dressing. No immediate repotting is needed: the plant can happily remain in this container for its first few seasons.

Q: Is it suitable as a wedding favour for a large reception?

A: Yes. Although it is a more generous size, it is often chosen for ceremonies and corporate gifting, particularly where a greater impact is wanted. Multiple pieces can be ordered, matched for species, pot size and plant height of around 40-45 cm. For larger quantities it is best to let us know the date of the event well in advance.
