Presentation
Kojo-no-mai is a dwarf variety of Japanese cherry (Prunus incisa) with slender, zigzagging branches and small, serrated leaves. Its most distinctive feature is the late winter to early spring flowering, with a profusion of tiny white blossoms appearing before the leaves. Ideal for anyone looking for a generously sized living wedding favour for weddings, christenings and anniversaries.

- Position: outdoors, full sun or partial shade during the hottest hours

How to care for it
Always keep it outdoors: this is a deciduous broadleaf that needs winter cold to flower well, so it should never be kept indoors. From May to September check watering daily, watering as soon as the surface of the substrate begins to dry out; in winter, when the plant is bare, watering is greatly reduced but the soil must not stay dry for long.
For more on caring for this species, see the complete botanical care sheet.
Frequently asked questions
Q: Will I receive exactly the plant in the photo?
A: No. As this is a wedding favour produced in batches, the photo shows a representative specimen. The plant sent is of the same variety and style, with a blue cloud-shaped pot 25x20x7.5 cm and a height of around 40 cm, but the branching of each individual specimen varies.
Q: How much space does it need on display during the ceremony?
A: The pot takes up 25 x 20 cm and the plant reaches about 40 cm in height: it is therefore a medium-sized favour, well suited to a display table or as the centrepiece of a small arrangement, rather than a small item to be boxed up.
Q: If I order it in summer, will it have white flowers?
A: No. Kojo-no-mai flowers between late winter and early spring, before the leaves emerge. In other seasons the plant arrives in full green leaf, as shown in the photo, and will flower the following year if kept outdoors.
