Presentation

Chinese elm (Ulmus chinensis, synonym of Ulmus parvifolia) 47 cm tall, with a corky trunk rising at a slight angle and a 4 cm nebari sitting firmly on the mossed soil. The ramification is dense and arranged on several layers, with small, glossy foliage. One of the most forgiving species, so it also suits those with little experience.

How to care for it

Keep it in front of a bright window, avoiding direct sun through the glass during the middle hours of summer days, or outdoors in a spot protected from cold winds. Water when the top centimetre of soil dries out: in midsummer this may mean every day, in winter even once a week. The pot is shallow, 8.5 cm, so the substrate dries out sooner than the size of the canopy would suggest.
