What it is for

The raised centre keeps the base of the pot lifted above the collection area: the roots are not left sitting in stagnant water, which gathers instead in the perimeter channel. How to use it

Set it on a level surface and place the cube on top, centred on the raised section. Two people, if the pot is already full of compost: the resin holds up, but the weight of wet substrate in a 45 cm cube is considerable.

After each watering, check the level of collected water. In summer, with frequent watering, it is best to empty the drip tray every two or three days, especially if the pot stands in full sun: standing water warms up and becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes and algae. In winter, outdoors, keep it empty so ice does not push against the walls.

Does it also fit other 45 cm square pots?

No. The mould follows the base of the smooth Fenice cube 45 cm (SKU CUBO FENICE45), including the raised centre the pot sits on. On a square container from another range, even with the same external size, the fit would not be stable and the rim might not line up.

Can I leave water in the base to provide humidity?

A thin film in the perimeter channel raises humidity around the pot without wetting the roots, because the raised centre keeps the base of the cube clear of the water. Avoid keeping it full for days, though: prolonged standing water encourages root rot and mosquito larvae in the warm months.

Is the resin frost and sun resistant?

Yes, it is designed to stay outdoors all year round along with the pot from the same range. Two precautions: empty it before frosts, so water does not freeze inside the channel, and in summer avoid dragging it loaded across rough flooring, which scratches the surface.
