Bonsai root scissors in satin steel 195 mm

What it is for

These scissors work on roots. They are used at repotting time, when you need to shorten the root ball, remove thick roots or those thickening downwards and tidy up the nebari before putting the plant back in its pot. The long, thick blades withstand cutting even when, digging into the old soil, you come across small stones or bits of lapillus: for this very reason they should never be used in place of fine branch scissors, which have a far more delicate edge.

Who they are for

Intermediate and experienced level. This is the tool for those who repot regularly and need scissors that will not bend out of shape at the first knock against a stone.

In practice they come into play once or twice a year per plant, during late winter or early spring repotting depending on the species, and are used both for thinning out fine roots and for cutting through thicker woody ones. We recommend drying and oiling them straight after use: damp soil stays on the pivot and, if left, stiffens the action.
