Acer palmatum var. Deshojo is a Japanese maple variety prized for its intense red foliage, especially vivid on spring growth. Here it is presented in a 15 x 11 cm blue glazed rectangular pot, with an airy canopy 20-25 cm tall. Ideal as a wedding favour for weddings, christenings and confirmations, as well as a corporate gift.

How to care for it

Keep it outdoors all year round, in a bright spot but sheltered from the direct sun of July and August, which easily scorches the margins of the Deshojo's thin leaves. The substrate in a pot only 6 cm deep dries out quickly: in summer it may need watering twice a day, while in winter, with the plant bare, occasional watering is enough to keep the root ball from drying out completely.

Will I receive exactly the plant in the photograph?

No. As this is a wedding favour produced in batches, the photo shows a representative specimen of the same variety. The plant shipped will be the same species, in the same 15 x 11 x 6 cm blue rectangular pot and of very similar size, but the branch pattern varies from plant to plant.

Can I order many identical ones for a ceremony?

Yes. The wedding favours are prepared in batches with the same pot and the same variety, so the overall effect on the guest table is uniform. Small differences in branching between specimens are natural and do not affect the visual consistency.

Should it be kept indoors after the ceremony?

No, the palmate maple is an outdoor plant. After the event it should be placed on a balcony, a terrace or in the garden, where it can follow the seasonal cycle: it drops its leaves in autumn and flushes again in spring with its characteristic red colouring.
