Copper aluminum bonsai wire wrapped in a 500 g skein.
The copper-plated aluminum wire, thanks to its ductility, is ideal for working bonsai and is available in the following sizes to be able to work and bend any size of branches:
1.0mm. - about 194 meters
1.5mm. - about 105 meters
2.0mm. - about 60 meters
2.5mm. - about 38 meters
3.0mm. - about 27 meters
3.5mm. - about 19 meters
4.0mm. - about 14 meters
4.5mm. - about 12 meters
5.0mm. - about 9 meters
5.5mm. - about 8 meters
6.0mm. - about 6 meters
The spinning technique is certainly the fundamental phase in the formation of a bonsai, only thanks to the winding of each branch of the plant it will be possible to give the future shape to the bonsai.
This type of wire is very malleable and ductile and these characteristics make it perfect for wrapping every single branch, moreover it is a wire that does not rust or stain.
The technique of spinning a bonsai is a process that requires a lot of practice, but we want to summarize the fundamental concepts, without which spinning is ineffective.
INCLINATION OF THE WIRE:
The wire must always be wrapped around the branch creating a 45° inclined coil with respect to the line of the branch, only thanks to this angle will the wire allow you to bend the branch.
WHICH WIRE SIZE TO CHOOSE:
It is important to choose the diameter suitable for the thickness of a branch, if we wrap a branch with a diam. of 4mm. with a 1 mm wire. we will certainly not be able to bend it, as well as if we will use a 6 mm wire. it will be excessively large; there is no mathematical rule because each plant has a more or less hard wood that also changes from season to season, the best method is certainly to feel the force exerted by a branch bending it under your fingers and find a thread that has the same or a little more resistance.
HOOK THE WIRE:
It is essential to hook the thread, that is, before spinning the branch that has been chosen, you must always anchor yourself to a previous branch in order to have a point that will remain stationary and will keep the branch bent.
