Trident maple (Acer buergerianum), 15-17 years old, 46 cm tall, with a sinuous trunk movement in the lower section and a rounded canopy already divided into pads. The 6 cm nebari supports the foliage mass well and gives visual stability to the whole composition. Suited to those who have been growing deciduous bonsai for a few seasons and know how to handle pruning and repotting.

How to care for it

Keep it outdoors all year round: it is a deciduous species that needs winter cold to go into dormancy and start again vigorously in March. In full growth, from May to August, the soil in the shallow 8.5 cm pot dries out quickly and watering may be needed twice a day; in winter, once the leaves have dropped, water only when the substrate is almost dry. The new leaves, reddish as they emerge, should be pinched to keep the ramification dense.
