How to use it

Place the drip tray in its final position first, then set the empty planter on top: once filled with compost the overall weight makes any move awkward. The ribs on the bottom keep the base slightly raised, so the drainage holes do not sit in standing water.

After watering, let it drain for ten or fifteen minutes, then empty out what remains. In winter this step matters twice as much: water left standing in the tray freezes and rots the roots.
