Corylus avellana 'Red Majestic' is a recent variety, very elegant thanks to its purple-red leaves, introduced by the English nursery Notcuts, at the 2003 Chelsea Flowers Schow, where it was such a success that it deserved the front pages of the English trade magazines. Notcuts are suckering plants so proceed to prune them whenever they vegetate.
